Combined Update Course Offer: Update for Experienced Invigilators AND Update for Experienced Readers/Scribes (UPTRSITIE)

20 mins (TIEUP) and 12 mins (TRSIUP) plus assessments - £10 - £17 per delegate

This combined course is for experienced invigilators and access arrangement faciliators who already have a good knowledge of the regulations and procedures relating to invigilation and facilitating access arrangements, but who need to update and refresh their knowledge for the current academic year.

It gives delegates access to two courses for one lower price:

  • Update Course for Experienced Invigilators: Training for Invigilators in Exams for General Qualifications (20 mins plus assessment)
  • Update Course for Experienced EAA Facilitators: Training for Readers, Scribes, EAA Invigilators and other Facilitators in Exams (12 mins plus assessment)

The JCQ ‘Instructions for Conducting Examinations’ states that training on the current regulations must be held for invigilators and those facilitating an access arrangement, with an update for existing invigilators. Centres must ensure that all exam support staff are thoroughly trained and their competence and understanding of the current regulations is rigorously tested.

Update Course for Experienced Invigilators

  • This update course is a brief refresher of the ‘Instructions for Conducting Exams (ICE)’ document, especially highlighting any changes to the JCQ requirements from the previous year.

Update Course for Experienced EAA Facilitators

  • This update course is a brief refresher of the requirements for facilitating and invigilating access arrangements, especially highlighting any changes to the JCQ requirements from the previous year.

The course tutor is Caroline Read.

The courses are delivered online through our learning platform.

You purchase a login for every delegate, and each delegate will be emailed login details.

Delegates get access to both courses from the selected start date until the end of the academic year (31st July), so the training can be revisited as many times as necessary.

The online assessments need to be passed with 100%, but delegates get to attempt them as many times as necessary

For centres that want to watch the training as a group:
We appreciate that many centres will still want to watch the training videos as a group. In this case, you would still book a login for every delegate (because they need this to access the individual assessment), but then when you gather as a group, use a projector to watch the training videos together from one delegate’s login. Then every delegate can complete the online assessments via their own login after watching the training. Because every login has both the training videos and the assessments, those who miss the group session, or those who want to revisit them through the year can still access the training videos on their own login.

You will need to select a start date when you book. Any start date after 1st September 2024 will receive the courses for the 2024/25 academic year.

Once you have booked your delegates, they will each receive an email with a username and password for them to log in with (this will only work from the start date selected).

Every login includes the training video and the assessment for both courses.

The course includes an online multiple choice assessment for each course. The 2024/25 assessment has several sections, which each require a 100% pass mark, but can be taken more than once if needed.

Once you have completed all sections, a certificate will be available for you to download and save for each course.

Your examinations coordinators may want a copy for their files.
